Carol O’Hare became the Executive Director of the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling in 1996 after working two years as an industry consultant on responsible gaming and community programs to address problem gambling.
As Executive Director, Carol works to achieve the Council’s mission of awareness, education and advocacy, while assisting in development of industry responsible gaming standards and groundbreaking public policy to reduce the impact of problem gambling in Nevada.
Ms. O’Hare is recognized as an expert advisor, accomplished writer, passionate advocate, and respected leader in the problem gambling field. Since 2005, Ms. O’Hare has served on the Nevada State Advisory Committee on Problem Gambling, and in 2014, the National Council on Problem Gambling presented her with its prestigious Monsignor Joseph Dunne Lifetime Award for Advocacy. Carol remains committed to her personal recovery and lives in Las Vegas where she has maintained continuous abstinence from gambling since January 31, 1991.
